TV trilogy for mothers
JAKARTA: The office of the State Minister of Population, in cooperation with private television station TPI and John Hopkins University, has created a television trilogy about mothers and motherhood.
Minister Haryono Suyono said Monday the television series would contribute to the education of what it means to be a mother.
According to Haryono, around 390-400 Indonesian mothers die in labor each year. "Despite an improvement in health care, a lot of women die during childbirth," he said, adding that one of the causes was poor nutrition.
The films were directed by three Indonesian famous directors -- Garin Nugroho, Slamet Rahardjo Djarot, and Teguh Karya. The series will begin on April 22. (12)
