TV stations pledge to avoid indecency

JAKARTA: The Indonesian Television Broadcasting Association (ATVSI) pledged not to air programs showing indecent material, and those that highlight violence and ghost busting.

Chairman Karni Ilyas told a press conference on Wednesday that starting next January, the association through its code of ethics commission (KP3K) would monitor all programs aired by its members.

"We will accommodate all complaints from the public and make recommendations," he added.

ATVSI executive Uni Lubis added that the association members had started to reduce the number of such programs. -- JP
