TV soccer beats live volleyball
JAKARTA (JP): The soccer semifinal between Indonesia and Singapore at Senayan Stadium was more than a sell-out. Thousands of spectators were refused entry by security guards.
Not wanting to go home, as that would mean missing the match, they scoured the area for places with TVs to watch the most eagerly awaited fixture of the Games to date.
Some of the most popular spots were other Games venues, particularly the lobby of the volleyball hall where several hundred fans squezed in, not showing any interest in the live sport in progress les than 50 meters away.
They even yelled and swore throughout the match, even though they were nowhere near the stadium itself. (yan)
