Turbulence before landing
I am writing in response to the letter Increasing problems in Indonesian skies (Feb. 6).
The writer described an incident involving a Singapore Airlines (SIA) flight which encountered turbulence when approaching Sukarno-Hatta airport. We can assure the writer that the incident was not serious and at no point was there a danger to the aircraft or its passengers.
The SIA aircraft, in accordance with instructions from the airport's air traffic control, was cleared for final approach to land at the airport immediately after another aircraft had landed. The slipstream of the aircraft that landed ahead of the SIA flight caused the air to become unsettled, resulting in the minor turbulence experienced by passengers.
We regret any inconvenience caused to passengers on the flight in question but would like to assure readers that the incident was by no means serious.
