Tugboat fire kills one, injures six

INDONESIA: An explosion occurred on a tugboat carrying kerosene and gasoline on Friday on the Indragiri River in Indragiri Hilir regency, Riau, leaving one crew member dead and six others seriously injured.

Gandi Sri Widodo, head of state oil and gas company PT Pertamina's Pekanbaru marketing office, confirmed the incident on Saturday, saying that the company lost the tugboat and dozens of tons of gasoline and kerosene in the incident, which cost the company Rp 2 billion (US$212,765).

The fire was caused by an explosion in a large fuel tank on the tugboat. Police are looking into the incident.-- JP
