Trust must be restored
Trust must be restored
In his recent televised speech, President Habibie correctly
pointed to the necessity to do something quickly about the
disastrous and still worsening economic crisis. That requires
immediate international support, a minimum of political stability
and, most importantly, trust of foreign investors and the
Indonesian people. There is only one way to forge that trust: The
Indonesian government must overcome its hesitancy and take the
lead in the process of democratization.
