Tropical livestock seminar in Yogya

YOGYAKARTA: The second International Seminar on Tropical Livestock will be held here next week, Committee Chairman Budi Prasetyo Widyobroto said over the weekend.

Around 200 domestic and foreign participants are expected to attend the two day seminar which begins on July 14 and will be addressed by three cabinet ministers.

The ministers scheduled to speak are Minister of Industry and Trade Rahadi Ramelan, Minister of Food and Horticulture A.M. Saefuddin and Minister of Cooperatives and Small Enterprises Adi Sasono.

The seminar, which has been organized by Gadjah Mada University, will also be addressed by Prof. J. Steinbach from Gissen University and Professor Orskov from Rowett University, both in Germany.

The international seminar aims to formulate agroindustrial development policy to brace the country for an era of free trade, and ways in which to empower farmers.
