Tripanusa, Priok Port sign deal

JAKARTA (JP): PT Tripanusa Dinamika has won a 15-year build, operate and transfer (BOT) contract to supply fresh water to ships stopping over in Tanjung Priok Port, North Jakarta.

The port authority said on Tuesday that the privatization of the water supply service was one of its programs to improve efficiency and the level of service provided to ship owners.

Tripanusa, wholly owned by local investors, will manage the fresh water supply from processing to invoicing under the 15-year BOT contract, which was signed here last week.

The port authority said that it hoped Tripanusa, which has hired a number of French specialists, would be able to improve the international image of the Jakarta port.

It added that the water supply agreement represents the first time that one of its services has been contracted out to a private company. (hen)
