Tribute to Tiffany taxi driver

I guess you do not get many letters documenting honesty in taxi service. But it happens.

Debarking from the Surabaya to Jakarta red-eye at 6 a.m. the other day, I hopped in a Tiffany from the train station to the Regent. With money already on the meter, I angrily switched to another taxi without paying when the driver professed not to know how to get to Jl. Rasuna Said.

My rail-lagged and frustrated mind caused me to overlook my computer bag with two high-end laptops, which I left in the Tiffany cab. So when I got to the Regent, I came to my senses and realized the loss.

Never thinking I would recover those laptops in a zillion years, I went through the motions of reporting the loss to the hotel concierge. Miracle of miracles, between the diligent efforts of the hotel and Tiffany's dispatcher, the errant cab was traced and the driver surfaced with the missing computer about an hour later. Hats off to Tiffany's outstanding customer service.
