Trial on gambling postponed
Abidin, one of the defendants being tried for allegedly running a gambling den with a noted youth leader Yorrys Raweyai, failed to attend his trial at the West Jakarta District court yesterday due to an unspecified illness.
Ruhut Sitompul, the lawyer representing him, told presiding Judge Ismail Sebayang that Abidin was sick but unable to submit an affidavit from the doctor who treated him.
Ruhut told reporters his client was fine on Sunday night but suddenly fell ill.
Judge Ismail adjourned the trial until Dec. 1. The judge said the testimony of two security guards in the employment of Abidin will be heard at the next court session. The guards worked at the storehouse which was allegedly used as a gambling den. (mas)
