Training course starts today
JAKARTA (JP): The Indonesia-Australia Technical and Vocational Education Project will hold a four-day training course on quality management in Sawangan, Bogor, starting today.
John T. Boveington, the Australian team leader for the project, said that the training program, to be held at the Jakarta Vocational Education Development Center, will be attended by 50 personnel from technical and vocational education centers and schools. Most are from the eastern part of Indonesia.
Some of the participants of the program are representatives of a number of Indonesian companies, including Coca Cola, Sheraton Resort, Garuda Indonesia, the state-electricity company PLN and PT Labtech Penta.
Boveington explained that the program is aimed at training technical and vocational education staff to enable them to implement quality management in technical and vocational schools in 1995.
"This work is in line with the Ministry of Education and Culture's dual system initiative for linking technical and vocational schools with the industry," he said.
The new course will be presented by six Indonesian staff, who have returned to Indonesia after four months of intensive training on ISO 9000 at the University of South Australia in Adelaide. (hhr)
