Training course on hotel taxation

JAKARTA (JP): The municipality will hold a taxation training course for hotel and restaurant businesspeople today in a bid to disseminate information on Regional Regulation No. 5/1996 on development income.

Head of City Revenue Agency Wahab Rachmatsjah said in a statement on Monday that the course would be held at Jl. Fachrudin No. 3, Central Jakarta.

"The training course will be held to inform hotel and restaurant owners that there is an article in the regulation regarding a self-payment system," he said.

Based on the system, hotel and restaurant owners were authorized to do their own calculations and give their owed taxes to the City Cash Office, he said.

However, businesspeople were required to make detailed records of their sales, Wahab said.

Businesspeople whose gross incomes were below Rp 120 million (US$49,180) a year were not subject to the bookkeeping requirement, he said. (hhr)
