Train museum a hit with foreigners

SEMARANG: Many foreign tourists have visited the Ambarawa Train Museum to view its locomotive collection, which includes 21 steam locomotives which date back to the Dutch colonial period.

Data from the museum obtained on Saturday shows that as many as 250 foreign train enthusiasts visit the museum, about 40 kilometers south of Semarang, each month.

The tourists have come from Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Germany, Italy, Great Britain, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Switzerland and the United States.

One excited American tourist, Dick Morgan, said that he admired the museum's locomotive collection, which was well- maintained. Morgan said it was his second visit to the museum.

During the two-hour trip between Ambarawa village and Bedono hill, train passengers can also enjoy the beautiful scenery of rice fields. -- Antara
