Traffic warden stabbed to death

BOGOR: An unauthorised traffic warden, known locally by the term, Pak Ogah, was stabbed to death by a public minivan driver at an intersection in Cibinong, Bogor regency, at around 6 a.m. on Monday.

The victim was identified as Juliana, 17.

His father, Udin, 40, said that Juliana had been working at the intersection as a warden, and usually received small change from drivers, when a public minivan driver became angry as Juliana refused to move the traffic barrier at the intersection.

The driver, whose identity remains unknown, but who was said by witnesses to drive a minivan on the Gandaria to Binong route, left the site but returned with friends and stabbed the victim in his stomach.

Juliana was rushed to Bogor Indonesian Red Cross Hospital but died from severe bleeding.

Cibinong Police chief Adj. Comr. Ogiyanto said that his officers were still hunting the suspects and hoped to arrest them soon. -- JP
