Traffic dispute ends in shooting

BANDUNG: Twenty-eight-year-old Dedi Junaedi was shot in the leg by another motorist after becoming involved in a traffic dispute on Jl. Sukajadi here on Monday morning.

Dedi was reportedly driving to an auto repair shop at about 10 a.m. when a speeding motorbike approached him from behind and swerved to avoid a pothole in the road.

"I was startled and also tried to avoid the pothole. The driver of the motorbike, however, lost his balance and fell. He then chased after my car yelling at me," Dedi said from the hospital.

Dedi stopped his car and got out and the other driver attempted to punch him, resulting in a fistfight.

"Suddenly he pulled out a gun and shot me in the leg," Dedi said.

Upon hearing the gunfire, other motorists apprehended the shooter and handed him over to the Sukasari Police.

Dedi's family plans to file a lawsuit against the shooter and has urged the police to investigate the case thoroughly.

"Our brother is not a criminal. The shooter cannot get away with an unlawful act like that," Dirman, Dedi's brother, said.

The police were unable to confirm the details of the incident. (25/edt)
