Traffic detour on Jl. Jend. Sudirman

JAKARTA (JP): Traffic on Jl. Sudirman in South Jakarta will be partly detoured from 9 p.m. on Saturday night to 5 a.m. on Sunday morning due to the demolition of a pedestrian bridge in front of the Chase Plaza complex, an official of the Land Transportation Agency said on Friday.

During demolition work on the east side of the street, north to south traffic traveling in the slow and fast lanes will be detoured from the intersection at Jl. Sudirman and Jl. Setiabudi to the opposite roadway, returning to the north to south lanes before reaching the Semanggi Cloverleaf. Traffic coming from the south will be funneled into the slow lane, JP Sepang, head of the agency, said.

During work on the west side of the street, south to north traffic in the slow and fast lanes will be detoured to the opposite roadway in front of the BRI building, returning to the south to north lanes at the intersection of Jl. Jend. Sudirman and Jl. Setiabudi. Traffic coming from the north will merge into the slow lane, he said.

In order to avoid heavy traffic due to the demolition work, motorists are urged to take alternative routes, including Jl. Karet Pasar Baru Timur and Jl. KH Mas Mansyur, he added. (ivy)
