Traffic agency told to find lost forms
The City Council told the head of the City Land Transportation and Traffic Control Office yesterday to conduct a thorough investigation into how 1,000 blank vehicle testing documents went missing.
"This case shows that the control of the office is still weak," Sugeng Supriyatna, the council deputy chairman, said.
He expressed the concern that the forms could be used for illegal purposes.
Aliwongso Halomoan Sinaga, a councilor from the council's Commission D on transportation, warned that collusion involving city officials could be behind the loss of the forms.
"When the perpetrators be arrested, they should be punished sternly," Sinaga said.
Sinaga also called on motorists who are doubtful as to whether their vehicle testing documents are original to report to the nearest traffic control agency office.
J.P. Sepang, the head of the agency, said the investigation into the loss of the forms is still in progress.
"Some people have been questioned in connection with the case," Sepang said.
A source at Sepang's office said the fact that the forms were missing was detected last month.
The loss has been reported to the police. (arf)
