Traffic accident kills 15 people

MEDAN, North Sumatra: Fifteen people died and almost two dozen
were injured Wednesday when a truck crowded with passengers fell
into a ravine in Pasir Mandoge village in the Asahan regency.

North Sumatra police spokesman Lt. Col. Amrin Karim told
Antara here yesterday that 22 people were injured in the
accident.

Amrin said the truck was on its way to Perdagangan village in
Simalungun regency.

The truck was not supposed to carry passengers, he said,
adding that the police were still hunting the driver, who fled
the scene. (aan)
