Toyota takes off
TOKYO: Toyota is moving into aircraft engines.
The Japanese parent has entered a joint-venture agreement to build and sell small aircraft engines in the U.S. from early next year.
The engine is based on a 4.0-liter V8 engine that Toyota uses on some luxury cars.
The twin-turbo engine comes with an air intercooler and full electronic control, an industry-first for this type of aircraft engine.
Cessna has expressed interest in putting the engine in some of its planes.
