Toyota set to help motorists

JAKARTA (JP): PT Toyota Astra is to set up 21 emergency service posts in Java and Bali to repair cars that break down during the Christmas and New Year exodus, a company executive said over the weekend.

The posts will start opening tomorrow and will remain operational until Jan 4. to repair vehicles, especially Toyota models, Lia Santoso from the firm's marketing and public relations department said.

The 21 posts include those located in Cikampek, Cipanas, Nagrek, Bawen, Alas Roban, Tuban, Malang and Jember in Java as well as Bedugul in Bali.

Until Jan 4., 14 Toyota workshops will also be open around-the-clock and another 70 workshops will back up the emergency posts, Lia said.

The provision of breakdown services is in line with the government's appeal to automotive manufacturers that they help safeguard traffic routes during the holiday season. (hhr)
