Tournament to decide Putra Cup players

JAKARTA: The Indonesia Golf Association (PGI) will organize an
amateur golf tournament to be held at the Gading Raya Golf Club,
in Serpong, Banten from Oct.16 until from 19.

"National men golfers Iin Setiawan, Indra Hermawan and
Suprapto will take part in the tournament to enhance the
competition," newly elected PGI chairman Haryanto Dhanutirto told
reporters on Wednesday.

"Our women golfers Ani Iman, Titi Puryanti and Sri Retno
Purwandari will also participate in the tournament," he added.

The national golfers won a gold medal in the women's team and
bronze medal in the men's team events at the Kuala Lumpur 2001
Southeast Asian (SEA) Games last month.

Meanwhile, PGI secretary general Kusnan Ismukanto said the
tournament would also serve as a selection process to name
golfers for the 2001 Putra Cup to be held in November in Sabah,
Malaysia. -- JP
