'Tourist slump not due to Bali terror'

JAKARTA: A total of 91,506 foreign tourists visited Jakarta in October, or 7.59 percent less than the number in the previous month, which recorded more than 99,000 visitors, according to data at the City Statistics Office.

However, the decrease had nothing to do with the Bali terrorist attacks, head of the office, Masni Rani claimed, explaining that October was the low season, beritajakarta.com reported on Monday.

The total of foreign visitors this year (until October) was more than 1 million, while the figure in the same period last year was 953,503.

The hotel occupancy rate in the city in September was 47.84, while in August it was 52.75 percent. The length of stay was 2.03 days in August and 1.75 days in September.

As for the guests of star-rated hotels, in September, 0.29 percent of them were Indonesians, meaning there was an increase by 0.04 percent compared to August. --JP
