Tourist facilities in Anyer

From Media Indonesia

While Anyer and its Carita beach have been intensively promoted as tourist destinations, these places do not seem to have proper facilities (telephone, electricity and roads).

Telephone facilities in Anyer are often disrupted for days, and help from telephone authorities is not usually forthcoming. It would be difficult for prospective tourists to book hotel rooms by telephone. We wonder when the authorities will improve their services.

As for electricity, power failures seems to occur regularly in this area. In general, only 10 days in a month see an uninterrupted electricity supply. The Anyer office of the state power company PLN has to cover a very wide operational area with only two regular employees, five workers who are paid a daily wage and one motorized vehicle.

Spare parts must be ordered from Labuan, Jakarta or Bandung. The question now is whether it is really beyond PLN to improve the situation or whether PLN officials are too lazy to do anything about it.

The frequent power outages are reportedly caused by a capacity overload, the result of among other things, electrical power pilferage. Someone once offered me his services to adjust my electricity meter.

The road from Cigading to Carita is generally in a poor condition. Pools of water are found even in Anyer itself. The worst part is from Anyer to Bengras, which passes the office of Anyer's sub-district head. I'm sure the sub-district head concerned has reported this matter to the relevant authorities.

Hopefully, this letter will prompt relevant parties to take action to ensure that Anyer will receive proper telephone, electricity and road facilities to make it a successful tourist destination.
