Touching message

I would like to comment on the recent colorful advertisement by the mobile phone maker NOKIA. This ad has appeared in The Jakarta Post a couple of times this week.

For a product as mundane as a cellular phone but slightly curve-shaped for convenient handling, NOKIA has created a wonderful ad. It is able to capture one's imagination and generally create a good and lingering impact in viewers' minds.

Children especially need physical contact in the form of hugging and cuddling as often as possible -- more so from fathers. Taking the cue from this simple philosophy, NOKIA has presented a beautiful picture of a happy dad and his cute little child. They have supplemented the ad with a phrase "curves are comfortable".

The body posture and facial expressions of the pair, as reflected in the ad, leave a lovely impression and no words can adequately describe the positive effect it projects. If advertisements should make people enthusiastic, I'd say this particular NOKIA ad serves the purpose quite well, conveying in its wake a sense of beauty, love, hope, cheer and all that is good in life.

"Connecting people", "Human Technology" etc. are words that have been thoughtfully crafted into this excellent ad.

No doubt, the focus of the ad is to promote their product, but the way NOKIA has created a wonderful image deserves appreciation.

Hearty congratulations to NOKIA Corporation and their creative team.
