Top racers to take part in Mesran rally

JAKARTA (JP): Top national racers have confirmed participation in the Gudang Garam-Mesran rally in Palembang, South Sumatra, on June 14.

So far 18 racers have registered for the one-day rally, the organizers announced yesterday. The 12 route special stages speed rally will start at 7 a.m. from Bumi Sriwijaya parking lot in Palembang. The racers will compete inside the Gembala Sriwijaya plantation.

Among the 18 racers in the rally are Chandra Alim, Roy Nirwan, Bari Bintang, Dandy Rukmana, Yaldi and Rifat Sungkar.

The racers will vie for a cash prize of Rp 18 million and 55 trophies.

Registration for participation is still open at the Indonesian Motor Federation (IMI) secretariat office in Palembang, the Palembang police precinct and Trendypromo Mandira/IPMJ Club, Jl. Kesehatan II No. 6, Bintaro, Jakarta.

Registration costs Rp 500,000 per car which includes insurance and four nights accommodation at Hotel Swarna Dwipa, Palembang. Those not requiring accommodation have only to pay Rp 350,000.

Spectators will have the chance to win three televisions and two mountain bikes in door prizes. (lnt)
