Top police officers promoted in rank

JAKARTA (JP): The National Police officially promoted 11 of its high-ranking officers in a ceremony at the National Police Headquarters on Monday.

The promotions come shortly after a major reshuffle in the National Police, which involved 36 high-ranking and middle- ranking officers.

The 11 officers promoted include National Police spokesman Brig. Gen. Didi Widayadi, National Police inspector general Insp. Gen. Yuyun Mulyana, Central Java police chief Brig. Gen. Erwin Mappaseng and chief of the police Mobile Brigade (Brimob), Brig. Gen. Jusuf Mangga Barani.

In a ceremony supervised by National Police Chief Gen. Surojo Bimantoro, Didi's rank was raised to inspector general, equaling the rank of Indonesian Military spokesman, Rear Marshall Graito Usodo.

Yuyun's rank was raised to commissioner general, as was earlier predicted.

Both the ranks of Erwin, who was former chief of the National Police Forensics Laboratory, and Jusuf, former South Sulawesi police chief, were raised to inspector general.

On Tuesday Bimantoro is scheduled to inaugurate Insp. Gen. Sjahroedin ZP as the new West Java police chief, replacing Mulyana. (ylt)
