Tons of oil found at port

CILACAP, Central Java (JP): Port authorities discovered 200 metric tons of cooking oil in a tank at Tanjung Intang Port here on Thursday, leading them to suspect the stock had been deliberately hoarded.

Police are still questioning officials of private company PT Sinarmas, which claimed to own some of the oil, and the Indonesian Distribution Cooperative (KDI).

"A KDI executive said the oil was the remainder of provisions from Dolog (the provincial logistics agency)," Police Chief Lt. Col. Andi Lolo said. "But we're a bit suspicious because he confessed to having kept the oil since August even though cooking oil is a rather scarce commodity in Cilacap," he added.

The executive, Ilham, had told police that 2,250 tons of cooking oil had been sent to the port in August, of which 1,000 tons were for Dolog while the rest belonged to PT Sinarmas. (45)
