Tonasa exports cement

JAKARTA (JP): State cement producer PT Semen Tonasa shipped the first of its exports to Sri Lanka yesterday from Ujungpandang port.

Semen Tonasa president Nizar Dt Kayo said the South Sulawesi- based cement producer shipped about 14,500 tons of cement. The firm plans to ship more to Sri Lanka in the future.

"The cement will be used for the country's infrastructure projects," he was quoted by Antara as saying in Ujungpandang.

Semen Tonasa has exported to Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, Bangladesh, Myanmar and Brunei.

He said the company planned to export 600,000 tons of cement this year, which would account for 20 percent of its total output. (jsk)
