Tommy Soeharto has a baby son
JAKARTA (JP): Hutomo Mandala Putra, the youngest son of former president Soeharto, had his first child when his wife, Ardhia Pramesti Regita Cahyani, delivered their son on Aug. 8 in Jakarta, sources said.
Sources close to the family said the baby was born at a private maternity hospital on Jl. Pramuka, Central Jakarta.
Soon after the delivery, the baby and his mother reportedly were moved to Harapan Kita Child and Maternity Hospital on Jl. S. Parman, West Jakarta, on the advice of family doctors.
They returned to their home on Jl. Yusuf Adiwinata, Central Jakarta, Saturday. The couple lives just a few meters away from Soeharto's residence.
"The baby is very handsome. He looks like his grandfather," said the source.
The family could not be reached for comment yesterday, and a guard refused to talk about the baby, saying only the couple had the right to disclose the name and other details of the child.
The former president is reportedly very proud of his new grandchild.
Soeharto now has 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild from his three sons and three daughters.
The baby is Soeharto's first grandchild to have been born after his resignation on May 21.
"His grandchildren and great-grandchild are his biggest source of joy. Now he spends most of his time with them," sources close to Soeharto said Saturday.
Hutomo Mandala Putra, also known as Tommy, married Ardhia in a stylish ceremony on April 30 last year, or just one year after his mother, Tien Soeharto, died.
It was a short courtship kept out of the public eye. News of the wedding only became public one month before the marriage.
During his bachelor days, Tommy associated with celebrities like singers Maya Rumantir and Nia Zulkarnaen, beauty queens Indira Soediro and Alya Rohali and MTV host Nadya Hutagalung. (prb)
