Toffler to speak in Yogyakarta
KLATEN, Central Java: American futurologist Alvin Toffler is scheduled to address a conference on tourism and cultural heritage in the ancient city of Yogyakarta on Oct. 28, the organizing committee said yesterday.
Committee Secretary Wiendu Nuryanti said Toffler was expected to provide insight on cultural heritage tourism and management.
The writer of best sellers Future Shock and The Third Wave will address the conference with American anthropologist Clifford Geertz and Indonesian anthropologist Koentjaraningrat.
"Toffler is expected to give his ideas on how people in tourist areas can develop their entrepreneurial spirit," she said.
The forum will seek input on how to preserve cultural heritage while managing it for tourist attractions, she added. (har/pan)
