Tobacco farmers huff and puff

SEMARANG: Local tobacco farmers are complaining that the
market price of their crop has drastically fallen because they
are being squeezed by the giant cigarette producers.

Herminto, a member of Commission C of the provincial council,
said the price of tobacco, which usually comes to Rp 30,000 per
kilogram, has fallen to Rp 23,000.

He urged farmers to keep the tobacco at the local cooperatives
and wait for the price to rise before selling again. (har)
