To the tower top with PLN

JAKARTA (JP): Global System for Mobile Phones (GSM) provider PT Excelcomindo Pratama has sent 200 personnel to tower climbing training at state-owned electricity company PLN.

Company director, T. Indarto Suryo, said here yesterday his company, which operates the GSM-XL service, was committed to improving its services by keeping its base transceiver station towers in good condition.

He said there were about 300 GSM-XL towers, with an average height of about 50 meters.

Suryo said a 500-meter climbing drill was included in the 40- hour training program which cost Rp 1.4 million per person.

GSM XL has approximately 125,000 customers. (icn)
