To Ibu Karlina

In a society like ours in which, in my observation, appreciation for more honest things and events is rather scarce, I would, for a change, and as a subscriber to your daily, express my admiration for Karlina Leksono and friends.

For, in a confusing and disheartening situation in which most housewives have to cope with their plight, this intellectually engaged lady and her busy women-friends, have taken pains to skillfully reorganize (their) precious time, so as to be able to dramatically appeal to their fellow citizens for effectively showing their commitment to solidarity with the (socioeconomically) less fortunate.

If, now, they are being shipped off for police investigation, held, harassed and tried, ostensibly on political or "subversive" grounds, and therefore suffer a so-called legal trial, might this drama not rather suggest that it is actually the Central Jakarta Court that is inflicting herself a moral trial, presided over, in turn, by these women?

Whatever, thumbs up for Ibu Kita Karlina.
