JAKARTA - PT Hutama Karya (Persero) is accelerating the construction of the Mamuju People’s School in Simboro and Kepulauan sub-districts, Mamuju Regency, West Sulawesi, by deploying 750 workers via air transport to support this national strategic project.

As of 3 May 2026, the physical progress of the Mamuju People’s School construction has reached 21.66 per cent.

The integrated boarding school complex is being built on a 8.2-hectare plot with a total building area of 41,000 square metres.

“Regarding the workforce, 750 workers have been mobilised via charter flights to ensure that human resources on site remain optimal throughout the project implementation,” explained Acting Executive Vice President (EVP) Secretary of PT Hutama Karya (Persero) Hamdani, in a press release on Monday (4/5/2026).

In its execution, Hutama Karya is applying a multi-layered acceleration strategy to address challenges posed by limited land access to the project site in the coastal Mamuju area.

Distribution of heavy materials is carried out via sea routes using ships and barges that dock directly at the pier.

Meanwhile, ready-mix concrete supplies are provided from batching plants and on-site batching to maintain quality and speed up material distribution.

From a work methods perspective, the entire project area is divided into several zones equipped with supervisors and high-up cranes to ensure that the work rhythm remains steady and supervision is optimal.

Minister of Public Works (PU) Dody Hanggodo previously emphasised that construction quality remains the top priority in building the People’s School.

“Always prioritise quality in its construction, both in terms of materials and building structures, because this school building must be able to last for at least 20 years of use,” Dody stated.

The facilities being built include boys’ and girls’ dormitories, teachers’ quarters, laboratories, library, multi-purpose building, mosque, canteen, sports field, and landscaped areas.

The buildings also incorporate the Intermediate Moment-Resisting Frame System (SRPMM) to enhance earthquake resistance, given that West Sulawesi is located in an active seismic zone.
