TNI is misjudged

I would like to thank The Jakarta Post for printing my letter
to the editor on March 12, 2001, titled No more problems, please.
But unfortunately there was a mistake in the edited version of
the letter that may cause misunderstanding on the part of the
Indonesian Military (TNI).

I wrote: "Domestically the TNI is not well liked, not because
of their bad performance, but because of their efficiency and
discipline and because they are a well organized unit and have a
clear line of command."

This was edited to the effect that TNI is not well liked
because it lacks efficiency and discipline etc., which clearly
contradicts what I said. Obviously I did not mean to misjudge the
military as such.
