TMII to spend Rp 1b for New Year's bash

JAKARTA: The management of Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) has allocated Rp 1 billion (US$108,695) for its New Year's Eve celebration, which is to include fireworks shows and concerts.

TMII cultural and tourism manager Mas'ud Thoyib said on Sunday the management wanted to give the public something special to end the year with, from traditional to contemporary performances.

On the night of Dec. 31, TMII will feature cultural performances of West Java's wayang golek, or wooden puppet show, East Java's wayang kulit, or leather puppet show, Betawi's wayang kulit and a dangdut concert.

Visitors will be charged only Rp 10,000 per person to enjoy the all-night event. -- Antara
