Tip on making Windows run faster

JAKARTA (JP): If you work mostly in Windows and you're still using Windows 3.1, waste no more time! Go out and buy Windows for Workgroup 3.11. It runs faster than the older Windows 3.1.

Even if your machine is not networked, you still can reap the benefits offered by WfW 3.11. Two of these benefits are 32-bit disk access and 32-bit file access. They both speed up disk and file access.

After you upgrade your Windows 3.1 to WfW 3.11, click on the Main group. Click on Control Panel, and then click on 386 Enhanced. Click again on Virtual Memory, and then click to turn on the Use 32-bit Disk Access and Use 32-bit File Access options. Restart Windows, and you'll notice the increase of speed immediately, particularly if you're still working on a 386DX machine. The Print Manager has been improved, as well.

The fact that WfW is faster than Windows 3.1 is nothing new. It has been reported in various computer magazines. It's only after I had upgraded my own Windows 3.1 that I became convinced of the speed advantage. You will be convinced, too.
