Timor forests are dwindling

DILI, East Timor: Vice governor J. Haribowo says forests across the province are in deplorable condition because of fires and illegal logging.

"Reforestation is urgent," he said when dispatching a group of youths assigned to replant trees in denuded areas across the province.

The reforestation campaign is centered in three of East Timor's 13 regencies: Liquisa, Dili and Maliana, Antara reported. (pan)
