Tigers maul more villagers

BANDAR LAMPUNG, Lampung: Tigers killed one person and seriously injuring three others in separate instances in West Lampung regency last week, a report said yesterday.

Three people have been killed and three injured by tigers in Suberjaya subdistrict since June 7.

Antara did not identify the latest victims but reported that the casualties had been confirmed by the local conservation of natural resources agency.

The first tiger attack this year occurred on June 7 at 2 a.m., when a tiger mauled a 42-year-old female employee of the state plantation company PT Inhutani. Pieces of her body were found about 200 meters from her tent.

Jumiati, 32, of Tanjungraja was the second to die. She was attacked by a tiger at 5 p.m. while on her way to bathe. Her remains were found in a 50-meter-deep ravine about two kilometers from her home.
