Through EPC Talavera, Indonesia Gains Jumbo-Capacity Cement Export Dock
PT Hutama Karya (Persero) has completed the development project for the dock and production facilities owned by PT Solusi Bangun Indonesia Tbk or SBI in Tuban, East Java, namely the Engineering, Procurement, Construction (EPC) Talavera.
EPC Talavera is ready to support the increase in cement distribution capacity for the export market through modern dock infrastructure and a large-capacity distribution system.
The project, which began in 2022, has been declared ready for operation following the issuance of the Taking Over Certificate (TOC) on 11 April 2026.
In that collaboration, cement exports are said to be aimed at meeting the needs of the TCC market in the United States.
One of the main advantages of this project is the use of a 4.2 kilometre tube conveyor (pipe conveyor), which is said to be the largest in Southeast Asia.
That facility serves as the backbone of distribution from the production area to the dock and ships, so the loading process can take place more quickly and stably.
The scope of work of the project includes the construction of a new jetty trestle and jetty platform integrated with existing facilities.
With dock infrastructure directly connected to a high-capacity distribution system, SBI as part of PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or SIG is expected to have greater distribution capacity via sea routes while increasing logistical cost efficiency.
Acting Executive Vice President (EVP) Secretary of Hutama Karya, Hamdani, said that the success of the project demonstrates Hutama Karya’s ability to handle large-scale EPC.
“The completion of this project shows that Hutama Karya is capable of delivering industrial infrastructure that not only meets technical and safety standards but is also ready to operate optimally to support clients’ business needs,” said Hamdani, in a press release on Monday (4/5/2026).
Hutama Karya also stated that it will continue to deliver projects with high safety and quality standards to support the strengthening of the national supply chain.
