Three students jailed for murder

BOGOR (JP): Three technical high school students were sent to jail after Bogor District Court found them guilty of mobbing and killing a student from a different school.

During a trial session Monday, presiding judge Martini sentenced the Depok-based STM Kusuma Bangsa students, identified as Nesan, alias Toyang, 20; M. Husen, 16; and Akhyarudin, 18; to 20, eight and six months in jail respectively.

Martini said Nesan attacked and stabbed the student, Madinah, from STM Panti Karya, in the back with a dagger. His schoolmate Husen stabbed the victim in the thigh with a file and Akhyarudin punched the lone student in the cheek.

The judge said the incident took place while Madinah was on a public bus, plying the Depok-Lebak Bulus route, on Jl. Raya Tanah Baru in Depok.

She said Nesan tried to stop the bus when he spotted Madinah inside the vehicle.

Nesan then asked him through the bus window: "Where do you come from?"

Unaware of the danger, Madinah explained that he was from Panti Karya technical high school, Martini told the court.

Nesan, without a clear reason, summoned his friends, who surrounded the bus and they attacked the victim, she said.

Martini quoted the postmortem examination as saying that Madinah died from the stab wound, which punctured a lung and caused severe bleeding. (24/09)
