Three people found dead in Bekasi hotel

BEKASI: Two men and a woman were found dead in two separate rooms, while another woman was in critical condition, in a hotel on Jl. Cut Mutiah here on Saturday afternoon.

Hotel staff found the body of Marsudi, 37, and Parihah, 27, lying on a bed in room No. 115 after they received no answer from the couple, who were supposed to check out at 1 p.m.

In room No. 118, they later found the body of Shinta Yuniwaty, 23, on a bed while the body of Capt. Eduard Ayomi, 46, was found outside the room near a dark blue Kijang van.

They were all found in a state of semi-undress.

A spokesman for the Jakarta Military Command, Let. Col. DJ Nachrowi, dismissed allegations that the death of Eduard, a Papuan member of the military, was connected to the controversial death of proindependence Papua Presidium Council leader Dortheys "Theys" Hiyo Eluay in November of last year.

"It's impossible. His duties had nothing to do with politics," Nachrowi told reporters on Sunday.

The bodies of Eduard, Marsudi and Shinta were sent to the Cipto Mangunkusumo hospital in Central Jakarta for an autopsy.

Parihah was sent to a nearby hospital for medical treatment but later she was transferred to the Kramat Jati police hospital in East Jakarta. She is currently under police guard, Metro TV reported.

The police have yet to announce the causes of the death, but it is suspected that the victims died of drug overdoses following the discovery of various kinds of drugs at the scene. -- JP
