Three Pakistanis to be deported
JAKARTA (JP): Three Pakistanis are facing deportation by the Central Jakarta immigration office for entering the capital without proper papers, immigration director for the office of control and supervision Zaiman Nurmatias said on Friday.
The three were identified as Muzaffar Ahmed Khan (holder of passport No. E.569449), Rana Muhammad Ateeq (No. E.080873) and Sohail Akhtar (No. E.659297).
"They were arrested at the Central Jakarta immigration office on Sept. 2 when they were applying for limited stay permits to work at local contractor PT Sotara Duga for quality control, business development and technical assistance," he said.
Their applications were about to be approved since it seemed that they had met all requirements in line with existing regulations, he said. When they reached the immigration control and supervision section, however, one of the officers became suspicious about the validity of their sponsor letters from Sotara Duga.
"The officer later checked the company's stated address of Jl. Mutiara 1, Central Jakarta, and found out that the firm did not actually exist," Zaiman said.
He said that the three had been intensively questioned and would be deported as soon as possible. (hhr)
