Three men stabbed in village rivalry

BOGOR (JP): Three workers of Bogor Raya golf course were badly wounded in an attack by a group of 70 residents of nearby Cibedug Girang village in Sukatani district on Thursday.

Judin, 28, Ukan, 28, and Pepen, 30, suffered slash wounds from sharp weapons. They are residents of Panggulakan village in Sukaraja, which is in conflict with Cibedug Girang.

"The attack was sparked by a fight on Wednesday evening at 10 p.m. between youths from both villages during a tabligh akbar (religious mass gathering)," villager M. Soleh told The Jakarta Post.

"At Wednesday's fight, a resident of Cibedug Girang, Sahril, was stabbed by a resident of Panggulakan when Sahril was trying to disperse the fight."

Soleh did not say what caused Wednesday's fight.

Dozens of Cibedug Girang's residents later searched for Panggulakan's youths who were involved in Wednesday's incident. They rode on public minivans plying the Bantar Kemang-Ramayana route to reach the village.

They were incensed after being unable to find any youths. They entered the golf course and found the three workers.

"Upon seeing the three, the Cibedug Girang villagers started to attack them using machetes and sickles. They accused the workers of being involved in the earlier incident," said Soleh.

Residents of Panggulakan village tried to disperse the attackers. They rushed the victims to PMI Bogor Hospital.

Bogor City Police and East Bogor Police are investigating the incident. (21/nvn)
