Three men arrested over taxi hijack

BOGOR (JP): Police arrested three men who allegedly hijacked a
Jakarta taxi from the driver at dawn on Thursday.

Bogor Police chief Sr. Comr. Bambang Wasgito said his officers
were forced to ram a patrol car into the taxi to force it to
stop, after a chase that began when the vehicle failed to stop at
a checkpoint on the busy Jl. Cileungsi.

No one was injured but both cars suffered heavy damage.

The three men -- identified as Januar Ginting (35), Timur
Sinulingga (25) and Tarala Ginting (25) -- boarded the taxi at
Jl. Sabang (Jl. H. Agus Salim).

They asked the driver, 27-year old Agil Pujiono, to drive them
to Cililitan, East Jakarta, and then to Cibubur, also in East
Jakarta, before taking over control of the vehicle. (06)
