Three killed by passing trains

JAKARTA (JP): Three people crossing railway lines were killed by passing trains at two separate locations in Jatinegara, East Jakarta on Tuesday night.

The first victim Unggono, 39, was hit by a train coming from Yogyakarta while crossing the railway line at Kampung Jembatan at the Klender low-cost apartment complex.

Minutes later two other people were hit by a train from Bandung at Pisangan Lama railway crossing, some 200 meters away from Jatinegara Station.

One of the victims was identified as Surya, a local resident, while the other one, whose mutilated body was dragged for five meters, was still unidentified.

"We repeatedly shouted at the two victims that the train was coming, but they didn't hear us, as they continued walking toward the railway line," Mustafa, a cigarette vendor at the location said. (01)
