Three events to make up Champ of Champs

JAKARTA (JP): Three national automotive events will be contested in the Goro Champ of Champs, scheduled to be held in Bandung and Cikola, West Java, from Nov. 28 to Nov. 30.

The three events consist of the national sprint rally, the Go- cart Open and a moped race. The events are being staged as part of the national meeting of the Indonesian Motor Association in Bandung.

The sprint rally will be held in Cikola while the go-cart and motorcycle races will be in Bandung.

Top local racers are expected to take part in the three-day event. They will vie for total prize money of Rp 30 million (US$8,800). The overall winner will be awarded the Goro Champ of Champs trophy.

For the sprint rally, the drivers will have to complete three Special Stages covering a distance of 15 kilometers or five kilometers per stage. The stages will be on regular roads in the hills around Cikola, near Tangkuban Parahu.

The first and second stages will be held in the morning while the third stage will be in the evening.

Before the drivers race in the sprint rally, they will be given a briefing at the Hotel Sahid Topaz in Bandung.

Prior to the go-cart and moped races, the drivers will be permitted to practice on Nov. 28 in Bandung. The races will each be one lap of 1,100 meters at a special circuit designed for the two races.

So far 115 people have registered to take part in the go-cart and motorcycle races and another 65 people in the sprint rally.

Registration is open until Nov. 26 at Trandypromo Mandira, Jl. Kesehatan 2/6, Bintaro, South Jakarta and IMI Jawa Barat, Setrasari Mall, Jl. Surya Sumantri No. 120, Bandung. (lnt)
