Three die in shooting

JAKARTA: Three people died instantly as they were shot in broad daylight on the busy street, Jl. Juanda in Central Jakarta on Monday.

The victims, identified as Solihin, a parking attendant, Mochtar, a security guard and Bambang, a driver, were idling at the road side when four men opened fire at them at about 11:30 a.m.

Solihin died instantly when the bullet entered his stomach, while Mochtar was hit shot in the head and Bambang was shot in the chest.

Two other men who were standing nearby were also injured.

Eyewitnesses said that they were shot by four men riding on two motorcycles.

Central Jakarta Police Chief Snr.Comr. Edmond Ilyas said that the incident occurred following a quarrel among them.

Earlier in the day, at about 9:30 a.m., Solihin pushed a car which was parked in front of PT Global Putra International. The car accidentally hit a Mazda Cronos, which was parked. The four people who were in the car and the parking attendant were soon involved in a heated argument. Mohtar then came to calm them down and then the four men left.

It was reportedly the incident had something to do with the shooting. --JP
