Three die in boat accident

DENPASAR, Bali: A fishing boat sank in waters off Denpasar on Tuesday night after being hit by a huge wave, leaving three seamen dead and three others missing.

Nine other members of the crew survived the incident that took place some two kilometers west of the runway of the Ngurah Rai International Airport in Denpasar.

Chief of the water police at Bali Provincial Police Sr. Comr. Agus Sutikno said on Wednesday that a search and rescue team was still trying to locate the three members of the crew that were still missing. All the seamen were from Penarukan subdistrict, Situbondo, East Java province.

The boat sank after it was struck by a huge wave on its way home from Ujung Bukit waters, Bali. -- JP
