Three athletes get awards
JAKARTA (JP): National athletes Irene Joseph, Nunung Jayadi and Posnianus Kahol received awards from The Athlete's Foot on Wednesday for their record breaking achievements at this month's 20th South East Asian (SEA) Games in Brunei Darussalam.
"We hope that the awards will incite them to improve their performances in the future," said Sunny Setiawan, operation manager of The Athlete's Foot Group Incorporated office in Indonesia, declining to state the form of the awards.
Irene set a new SEA Games record in the women's 100-meter event with a time of 11.56 seconds. She took the silver in the 200 meters clocking 24.02 seconds. Nunung also created a new record in the pole vault of 5.05 meters and Posianus in the javelin of 67.49 meters.
Athlete's Foot Group Inc. is an international sports company based in Atlanta, Georgia, and has 800 shops in the United States and more shops in 45 other countries. Their venture is to give the best service for athletes in all sports, from track and field to basketball.
Robert J. Corliss, the company's president, said that the company also develops young athletes to become super stars.
"We are confident that The Athlete's Foot concept could develop in Indonesia. We are looking forward to helping to develop Indonesian athletes. There are already 26 outlets in Indonesia and we hope to add another outlet in Surabaya," Corliss said adding that in developing the athletes, the company uses the Fit Tech system.
The Fit Tech system gives athletes the better choice to select their shoes. "This system was shown very effective during the matches where the athletes felt the flexibility of their movements," one Fit Tech official said. (lnt)
