Three athletes get awards

JAKARTA (JP): National athletes Irene Joseph, Nunung Jayadi
and Posnianus Kahol received awards from The Athlete's Foot on
Wednesday for their record breaking achievements at this month's
20th South East Asian (SEA) Games in Brunei Darussalam.

"We hope that the awards will incite them to improve their
performances in the future," said Sunny Setiawan, operation
manager of The Athlete's Foot Group Incorporated office in
Indonesia, declining to state the form of the awards.

Irene set a new SEA Games record in the women's 100-meter
event with a time of 11.56 seconds. She took the silver in the
200 meters clocking 24.02 seconds. Nunung also created a new
record in the pole vault of 5.05 meters and Posianus in the
javelin of 67.49 meters.

Athlete's Foot Group Inc. is an international sports company
based in Atlanta, Georgia, and has 800 shops in the United States
and more shops in 45 other countries. Their venture is to give
the best service for athletes in all sports, from track and field
to basketball.

Robert J. Corliss, the company's president, said that the
company also develops young athletes to become super stars.

"We are confident that The Athlete's Foot concept could
develop in Indonesia. We are looking forward to helping to
develop Indonesian athletes. There are already 26 outlets in
Indonesia and we hope to add another outlet in Surabaya," Corliss
said adding that in developing the athletes, the company uses the
Fit Tech system.

The Fit Tech system gives athletes the better choice to select
their shoes. "This system was shown very effective during the
matches where the athletes felt the flexibility of their
movements," one Fit Tech official said. (lnt)
